We need your handbags and glad rags

Wondering what to do with that special outfit you only wore once, that luxury handbag that isn't your style, that lovely gift you never use? Give it a second life – donate it to Marie Curie and help support people living with a terminal illness.

Your donations will help support Marie Curie Nurses

We're urgently asking for donations of good quality clothes, accessories and homewares to sell in our Marie Curie shops. National lockdowns forced us to close our shop doors throughout much of the pandemic, meaning we lost out on income desperately needed to support our frontline caring services.

By donating your pre-loved items from your favourite labels, you can help our shops raise as much money as possible.

What can I donate?

We are asking for your undamaged, high-quality items which will help our stores raise money to support terminally ill people and their families.

The generosity of our supporters is always greatly appreciated, however any damaged, stained or broken items can cost us money to dispose of, so please take this into consideration when gathering your donations.

At the moment we especially need the following items:

  • High-quality ladies, men's and children's clothing (particularly for spring and summer)
  • High-quality shoes, handbags and accessories
  • Working and undamaged household items
  • Jigsaw puzzles (with all the pieces included), board games and toys
  • Photography equipment
  • Collectible, vintage items

Unfortunately we're currently unable to accept the following items:

  • Damaged, stained or broken items (it will cost the charity money to dispose of them)
  • Furniture
  • Duvets and pillows
  • Children's car seats
  • Prams, pushchairs or cots/Moses baskets

Can I still Gift Aid my donations if I post them or have them collected?

Yes! As long as you have paid or will pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax that is at least equal to the tax that Marie Curie and other charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs you donate to will reclaim on your donations in a tax year, you can Gift Aid your donations.

You can sign up to Gift Aid within the forms for each service above. You can even sign up to Gift Aid using the 'drop-off' form above before dropping your donations to us in store!

How should I box up my postal donations?

Please box up your donations in a safe, secure parcel or box.

Each parcel can measure up to 60cm x 50cm x 50cm and weigh up to 10kg.

Where can I drop off my parcel?

If you're choosing to freepost your parcel in to us there are up to 6,600 drop-off points across the UK open seven days a week making it really easy to donate your items. You can use the Collect+ store locator   to find your nearest drop off point.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have now reopened our shops in the UK. To check the opening times of your nearest Marie Curie shop please visit our charity shops page. Remember, you can also shop online   or visit our eBay store  , where you'll find a great selection of gifts, calendars, charity Christmas cards   and much more.

Although we try our very best, there are some limits to where we can collect your donations from. We can only collect from within a 20 mile radius of your local Marie Curie shop, and we can't collect from inside the London congestion charge zone.

If we can't make it to you, we'll let you know, and we'll also tell you about the other ways you can get your donations to us.

There are still plenty of ways for you to raise money for Marie Curie Nurses. You could sign up for a virtual collection, or create your own 2 Hour Challenge.

You can also donate whatever you can spare to help support dying people and their families.

If you haven't received your freepost label please check your junk and spam folders as it might have ended up there. If you still can't find it please let us know by emailing retailoperations@mariecurie.org.uk.

After completing the form you'll receive an email with a downloaded barcode in it. If you take this code with you to a Collect+ dop off point they can scan it for you and print the label for your donation package.
