Meet Liz - Marie Curie shop volunteer

Marie Curie shop volunteer LizLiz has been a Marie Curie shop volunteer since 2009. She became a volunteer after her late husband was cared for in a Marie Curie hospice.

“He was well cared for by the Marie Curie staff… and the nurses were incredibly supportive”, Liz says of her husband’s time at the hospice.

As a Marie Curie shop volunteer, she helps two mornings a week preparing donated goods for sale and displaying merchandise on the shop floor. She sorts out clothing donations, organises clothes by size, attaches price tickets, rotates stock, and operates the till.

Liz says, “I enjoy being a Marie Curie shop volunteer. I get to meet customers and be part of the shop team on a regular basis and the role provides an opportunity for me to give something back to the charity.”

Cherry was surprised that it was so easy to get involved – simply a case of going into the shop and filling out some forms.
