Companion in hospital

If you’re in hospital, a Companion volunteer can spend time with you and provide emotional and practical support, focusing on what’s important to you. Currently, they're available in Musgrove Park Hospital in Somerset.

Call us to get support from a Companion
  • Companions are trained volunteers that can help you and your family by providing:

    • companionship to people reaching the end of life in hospital
    • support with planning for the end of life and helping with advance care planning conversations
    • bereavement support.
  • To understand the Companion you need, we need to understand what's important to you. That's why we listen to what matters to you. Based on this, we match you with a trained, dedicated companion to provide you with ongoing, regular – and free – support, for a few hours every week, any day of the week.

  • Currently, Companions in hospital are only available in Musgrove Park Hospital. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can call Marie Curie's Support Line for free practical and emotional help over the phone.
