What is the Support Line?
The Marie Curie Support Line team is a multi-disciplinary team of trained information and support officers, registered nurses, bereavement support specialists and trained volunteers.
The Support Line is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm and Saturdays from 11am to 5pm.
The Support Line number is 0800 0902309. Calls are free from mobile and landlines and may be recorded for training and monitoring purposes.
Any calls taken out of hours or at the weekends will be picked up again by a trained member of the team or a nurse on the next working day. During the opening hours, most calls will be returned within the day.
The Support Line is part of the Marie Curie Information and Support Service that also includes printed information, the Marie Curie website with a wide range of information on practical and emotional matters as well as live web chat, and the Marie Curie Online Community, an online forum for people to share experiences and find and give support.
Are the calls confidential?
Anything discussed will remain confidential, unless there is a risk of serious harm to you or others, and in some other specific circumstances outlined in our confidentiality statement.
How can I book a call?
Please fill in our call back form and choose who you would like to speak to and a time that suits you and a member of our team will be in touch to discuss your information and support needs.
Can the Support Line team offer medical advice?
Our Information and Support nurses and officers are not a substitute for professional care from the NHS or other providers; they won't have access to your medical record and won't be able to discuss the actual treatment or care that you or your loved one is currently receiving.
We can only provide clinical information and support, they won't give specific advice or opinions, either medical or personal.
If you're looking for specific advice about your treatment or care, or need emergency assistance, we recommend you contact your local medical professional or service.
How do I talk on webchat?
Our webchat service is available via our website and gives you the chance to instant message our trained staff to get information and support.
To start a chat, click on the icon on the bottom right of this page to get started. The icon only shows when someone in the team is available (during opening hours).

Do you offer any services to support people with different accessibility needs?
Our easy read booklets use simple words and pictures to help you understand information. You can download them for free.
If you or someone you are supporting can’t speak English, or it isn’t your first language, our Support Line is available in over 200 languages. Get in touch on the Support Line number, 0800 090 2309, and we can request an interpreter to join and translate your call live.
