Royal Patronage

His Majesty the King, Charles III visits the Marie Curie Hospice, Cardiff and the Vale for their 60th Anniversary in February 2020.

His Majesty the King, Charles III

His Majesty the King, Charles III is Patron of Marie Curie. Over the years he has kindly supported the charity in a variety of ways:

On 4 May 2016 His Majesty hosted a reception at Clarence House to celebrate 30 years of Marie Curie's flagship fundraising campaign, the Great Daffodil Appeal. Guests mingled in the garden of Clarence House and enjoyed a speech by His Majesty, who wore one of Marie Curie's distinctive daffodil badges.

On 12 February 2019, His Majesty visited the Marie Curie Hospice, Liverpool, to celebrate its 60th birthday and to help launch the Great Daffodil Appeal 2019.

On 21 February 2020, His Majesty toured the Marie Curie Hospice, Cardiff and the Vale to celebrate its 60th anniversary year. His Majesty also helped mark the start of the charity's Great Daffodil Appeal, being the first person to sign the Great Big Daffodil, a seven-foot metal daffodil sculpture with giant petals where people could leave a message, memory or story relating to a loved one.

On 23 March 2021 His Majesty joined people across the UK as part of a National Day of Reflection   organised by Marie Curie to reflect on our collective loss during the pandemic. His Majesty also created a video to mark the occasion, which you can watch below.

Marie Curie would like to express our gratitude to His Majesty the King, Charles III.
