Employee volunteering and fundraising

Whether your staff want to raise money for us, or donate their time and skills, there are many ways to put your staff right at the heart of our work.

On this page:

Employee fundraising

Every year, our corporate partners volunteer their time, skills and expertise to help us push for a better end of life care for all.

From fundraising for our vital services and raising awareness of our mission to sharing their knowledge so we can expand our work – there are lots of ways that your staff can get involved.

We'd love to help you come up with or develop great fundraising ideas that relate to your business and can be applied in your work environment. You can also check out our work fundraising ideas!

National fundraising events

The Great Daffodil Appeal sees our yellow daffodil pin badges brighten up the country in March. Your company can get involved by selling daffodil pins in your offices/stores or volunteering as collectors in your local community.

The Blooming Great Tea Party is an opportunity for your employees to show off their baking talents and tea making skills.

Corporate events

Take on a challenge

Is there someone in your company who is always talking about running a marathon or trekking the Great Wall of China?

The time for talking is over. We have a variety of exciting challenges both in the UK and abroad that employees can get involved in. We'll help teams or individuals prepare for their challenge providing support and advice on fundraising ideas and achieving their goals.

Corporate quizzes

If you're looking for a less physical event, why not put your company to the test in one of our popular Brain Game quiz extravaganzas?

These celebrity-hosted black-tie events occur throughout the year in various locations. Will your company be the winning team?

EDF Energy's mountain challenge

30 EDF Energy colleagues scaled the highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland. Battling cold weather, rain and aching limbs, they raised over £35,000.

I would recommend this opportunity to other colleagues, as it was really fulfilling to be part of making a difference by supporting Marie Curie and the amazing work that they do.

Hotter shops challenge

To launch the partnership, teams from five Hotter  stores and Hotter HQ teamed up with five Marie Curie shops to volunteer for the day and take on a shops challenge. The teams brought along donations, Hotter goodies and lots of enthusiasm with the aim of attracting more customers and boosting the shops takings.

Our day in Farnborough Marie Curie raised a good amount for the charity and also raised our spirits as a team. Everyone came away full of appreciation and gratitude for the hard-working staff and dedication in supporting Marie Curie.

Skill sharing

There are also opportunities to utilise your expertise to help Marie Curie. You could host an intern workshop, mentor one of our employees, provide gardening and maintenance help in a hospice or host a Marie Curie Masterclass at our head office.

Wyevale’s Day Gardening at West Midlands Hospice

Wyevale Garden Centre employees used their expertise to volunteer in the gardens of Marie Curie Hospice, West Midlands. Thanks to their help in clearing the area of brambles and planting bulbs, a new enchanted fairy garden has just been opened providing a safe and calm space for children receiving bereavement support.

Read more about the opening of the fairy garden on our blog.

It's an experience of its own and it's a great bonding activity all while contributing to a great cause!
