30 minutes
Browse the range of information and support we offer online, in printed publications and over the phone. Share what you find with someone who might find it useful.
A couple of hours
Our 190 shops across the UK are crying out for your pre-loved clothes and accessories. If you have a few hours to spare, clear out your wardrobe and donate to your local Marie Curie charity store.
One day
Host your own Marie Curie fundraising event. This could be anything from a pamper night or Blooming Great Tea Party to a sponsored skinny dip or walk.
A few hours a month
Our Marie Curie Ambassadors go out and about giving talks about Marie Curie in their communities. If you are organised, enthusiastic and have local contacts in your community then this may be the role for you.
A few hours a week
Volunteer at a Marie Curie hospice. There’s a wide range of things you can do – anything from a hospice driver, gardener or complementary therapist, to a receptionist.
A few days a month
Become part of our dedicated teams in one of our offices. Roles range from administration volunteers and fundraising project coordinators, to project assistants and interns. Find a volunteering role for you.
Become an Expert Voice
If you have first-hand experience of end-of-life care as a carer, family member or friend, as an Expert Voice you can help us improve our services and develop new ideas.

Become a Marie Curie Ambassador
As an ambassador, you'll go into local communities and talk about Marie Curie's work. If that sounds daunting, don't worry. We supply a toolkit of talks and lots of information and statistics to help you explain who we are and what we do.
You'll build your own local contacts and arrange you're own talks. So it's a role for someone who is organised and enthusiastic about Marie Curie. Search all roles

Become a Companion at home volunteer
Marie Curie Companion volunteers visit terminally ill people in their homes, offering companionship and support for up to three hours each week.
The role involves helping with activities such as reading, making short trips to the shops and providing information on local services. It also requires patience, empathy and the ability to listen.
Companion volunteers receive extensive training before they start, and then ongoing support throughout their time volunteering.

Volunteer as a Complementary Therapist
Our hospices offer patients and carers a range of complementary treatments. These are all provided by volunteers and benefit patients and carers greatly.
We'd love to hear from you if you're qualified in acupuncture, aromatherapy, hypnotherapy, massage, reflexology or reiki.
You’ll need to be a member of the relevant professional body for your therapy and also have professional insurance, but we’ll make sure you have a thorough induction and shadow someone until you’re confident in this very specific environment. Search all roles.
Volunteer as a Contracts Advisor
Legal advice is particularly valuable to charities. Contracts are an essential part of our work and being able to get a legal professional to take a second look is really helpful.
As a Contracts Advisor, you wouldn’t be expected to provide a full legal service, but being able to identify areas of concern or issues where we’d need to refer to a lawyer to get a resolution enables us to continue our work with confidence. Search all roles.
I have always enjoyed volunteering for the charity and coming away feeling that I have done something worthwhile. Being in a fundraising group multiplies that feeling and is also a lot of fun.
Join your local fundraising group
Across the UK, small groups of dedicated local people join together to raise funds for Marie Curie. Fundraising groups run their own events, organise collections, have coffee mornings and make a difference in their communities in countless other ways.

Volunteer in a charity shop
Our shops feature a fantastic assortment of clothes, accessories and goodies at great prices. Volunteering in one of our shops is a great way to meet members of the public and help them with their shopping.
Shop volunteers help with the day-to-day running of our shops, working as part of a small, friendly team for half a day or more a week.
As a shop volunteer, you'd do things like operating the till, taking receipt of donated goods and helping customers on the shop floor. Volunteers also work behind the scenes to sort and prepare goods for sale in the shop. Search all roles
Be a Collection Box Coordinator
Collection Box Coordinators liaise with local shops, pubs and hotels to ensure that Marie Curie collection boxes feature prominently in their local community. Volunteers return regularly to replace full boxes before counting and banking the money.
This is a role that lets you choose the level of commitment you would like to make as well as ensuring that Marie Curie is well known locally. Register your interest in becoming a collection box co-ordinator
Be a hospice catering assistant
As a hospice catering volunteer, you'll serve refreshments and take the shop trolley into wards and rooms. You'll need to enjoy having a chat and working as part of a team. Search all roles
Be a hospice driver
Our hospice drivers are vital to many of our day patients, who simply wouldn’t be able to get to the hospice for their appointments without them. Drivers give patients a lift in to the hospice from their homes. You’d need to have your own car but there’s a mileage allowance of 45p per mile. Search all roles
Be a hospice Day Care Assistant
Day Care Assistants support day patients during their time at the hospice. They help with a range of tasks including chatting to patients, running activities such as art and crafts and serving refreshments.
Our Day Care Assistants need to be flexible, happy to get involved in whatever is required and be able to commit to a few hours each week or fortnight. Search all roles.
Volunteer as a hospice gardener
Be part of a team of volunteer gardeners at one of our hospices and help to keep the gardens looking beautiful.
For people receiving care and support, and their families, being able to enjoy beautiful plants and flowers can be a real positive at a very difficult time.
It’s my family’s experiences with Marie Curie that made me think: ‘This is the charity for me.’ I’d always loved doing things for charity but I’d never found the one that felt right. Now I have.
Become an Admin Volunteer
As part of a busy office, our admin volunteers support teams with a range of tasks including answering the phone and producing documents.
The role gives you the chance to build on your IT and admin skills and give you behind-the-scenes experience at a large national charity. Search all roles
Become a Project Assistant
Marie Curie manages all kinds of projects – big and small, short and long term. Project Assistants support the planning, implementation and evaluation of these projects. You'll need good organisational skills and enjoy team work. Search all roles.
Be a Fundraising Project Coordinator
Working with local fundraising teams, Project Coordinators play a key role in campaigns such as the Great Daffodil Appeal, Swimathon and the Blooming Great Tea Party, helping with planning, promotion and recruitment. Search all roles.
