Thank you for helping Marie Curie with a donation by text. Here are our terms and conditions, outlining how our text donations work.

One off text donations

Texts include the cost of your donation plus your standard network rate. Marie Curie receives 98% of your donation as we must pay a fee to use this SMS service.

We’d like to tell you more about the expert hospice care Marie Curie Nurses provide to people living with a terminal illness and their families but if you would prefer not to receive any communications from us, please text ‘OUT’ to 78866. It can take us up to one working day to remove your number from our call list so please accept our apologies if you receive a call in the meantime.

Regular text donations

This is a subscription service. You’ll be charged your donation amount plus the cost of one standard rate text message. Marie Curie will receive 95% of your donation as we must pay a fee to use this SMS service. Every month you'll receive a free reminder text message the day before your gift is due. If you're happy to give, you don't need to do anything and your donation will be sent through. If you don’t want to give, you can choose to skip a month.

After signing up

You’ll need to reply to the message that we sent you to activate your gift. When you have responded to the text, your gift will be activated and your first donation will immediately be deducted from your phone bill or your Pay as you go credit. 

See your gifts in action

We want you to see how your gifts are helping Marie Curie Nurses provide expert hospice care for terminally ill patients and their families across the UK, so we'll send you regular updates on our work. You might also receive videos and other useful content that you can view on an internet-enabled phone or your computer.

We won't charge you for this content but, as with any mobile browsing, viewing it could mean you incur charges from your network provider. 

Gift Aid

Your gift through this service is eligible for Gift Aid. In order for us to reclaim the tax you have already paid on your gifts and make them worth a quarter more, at no cost to you, we’ll call you to confirm your details. 

Some important details

Unless otherwise stated, there will be no refunds for the cost of any SMS text made.

By using this service, you agree that we may call or text you on your mobile in the future about our work and how you can help. One important reason for this is to talk to you about the Gift Aid scheme. But if you'd rather we didn't call, please contact our Supporter Relations team on 0800 716 146* or email us at supporter.relations@mariecurie.org.uk. 

All supporters must obtain permission from the bill payer before sending a text message. If you are under 16 years old, you must have your parent or guardian's permission before signing up to our campaigns. 

Choosing to skip

When you receive your free reminder text, if you'd prefer not to give that month, simply reply ‘SKIP’ within 24 hours of receiving the message and we won't take your donation that month. You’ll be charged the cost of one standard rate text message. 

If your phone is out of range or switched off, you don't need to worry. We'll only take your gift 24 hours after we know that your phone has received our message. 

Ending your regular SMS gift

To cancel your regular SMS gift please do the following:
If your regular gift amount is £3 text 'STOP' to 70007
If your regular gift amount is £4 text 'STOP' to 70030
If your regular gift amount is £5 text 'STOP' to 70755
If your regular gift amount is £10 text 'STOP' to 70688
